FAQ

Is the CO2 cylinder exchange service available on the Aarke website?

Yes. Learn more and sign up for our convenient on-demand service called The Cylinder Loop here.

How do I dispose of an empty gas cylinder?

Since gas cylinders classify as hazardous goods, they are not meant to be thrown in the household trash. Our CO2 cylinders for home carbonation were manufactured to be refillable at specialized facilities and reused multiple times.

We recommend exchanging your empty cylinder for a full one, at a reduced price at one of our retailers offering the exchange (listed in these FAQ) – or through the Aarke on-demand exchange service.

How many cylinders can I exchange at a time?

We always refill 2 cylinders at a time. So when you are ready to exchange always pack 2 empty cylinders into the exchange box before sending it back to us.

Tips: we recommend owning 3 cylinders in total so you always have 1 in our carbonator, while we're refilling the other 2.

How do I know if the gas cylinder is empty and ready to be exchanged?

The water will no longer become bubbly when you’re going through the usual carbonation steps. Before exchanging the empty cylinder, or putting it into the exchange box, you can double check that it is completely empty by depressing the center pin with a spoon. Any remaining CO2 will be removed then.

How is the Aarke CO2 different from other brands?

The food grade CO2 used in our cylinders is exclusively produced from renewable resources. This means that our CO2 comes from sources already in the eco-system, not adding unnecessary CO₂ to the atmosphere. Click here to learn more.

Are Aarke’s gas cylinders compatible with sparkling water makers from other brands?

Yes, the Aarke CO2 cylinders are compatible with most sparkling water makers on the market that are designed for use with the 410-425g (14.5 oz) / 60L cylinders, except for the Soda Stream Duo model.

Which retailers sell Aarke CO2 cylinders/offer gas exchange in my local area?

We are currently working hard to make our gas cylinders available for purchase and exchange at major retailers in the US. Please check back soon as we will be creating and updating the list of retailers continuously.

In the meantime, you can try the Aarke on demand gas cylinder exchange service called The Cylinder Loop.
